Soil Conservation Workshop

6 and Dec. 17, 2007, we had a workshop facilitated by Soil Conservation Mr. Elpidio Moreta. The first day of the workshop (the theoretical part on conserving soil) was explained to the participants which are treatments that do harm to the ground and how to use other ways to treat it to continue spreading without the application of chemicals and also to protect the harvest. A workshop like this is not just a theoretical but also, and not least, a portion of practice. This practice was undertaken in the day on December 17 at the farm of Mr. Féliz Pastor (a participant of the workshop) in the ferns in the hill of La Cienaga. With much encouragement people climbed the hill in truck and participated in the workshop as part of the way. In the farm participants learned how to make barriers and how to measure where they sow the seeds of plants, not only to conserve soil, but also to have better performance in the harvest for the best use of space. All participants (men and women) were taking part in a very active in this workshop and I liked it very much.
