Carve start of the project "Help Operators Telecentres" (Lima, Peru)

In March, we traveled to Lima, Peru, to participate in a workshop organized by the Peruvian Center for Social Studies - CEPES to discuss and review the planning and goals of the project "Help Telecentre Operators".. This project seeks to develop skills of those responsible for the telecentres, strengthen them as actors in development and to promote working in a network. After the workshop decided to establish a collaboration between the project "Help Telecentre Operators of CEPES and the draft ACT! IVATE support the creation of the Caribbean Alliance ACT! The Foundation Taiguey driven.
Since August next makers and makers of telecentres in Latin America will have at their disposal a support service that seeks to strengthen their skills in management and sustainability of the telecentres in its relations with the community and with users, among others. To plan and design this service has been party to recognize the important role that meet those who work daily in call centers, it is understood that the capacities of these players who have depended efficiency and effectiveness of call to promote development in their communities and achieving the objectives for which call centers were created. This project seeks to develop skills of those responsible for the telecentres, strengthen them as actors in development and to promote working in network through three services:
(1) response to requests for information or advice received by making use of e-mail, the Web site, chat, forums or telephone, among others, (2) internships to promote the exchange of experience between makers call, and (3) web platform that includes a resource center which will organize the information produced as a result of these activities as well as other available materials, and provide forums for expression, participation and sharing among makers of telecentres through thematic forums and blogs individual among other tools.
The proposed service assistance is an initiative of the Peruvian Center for Social Studies - CEPES (http://www.cepes.org.pe/) and telecentre.org similar to the one being developed in countries such as Uganda for UgaBYTES for Africa Eastern and Central Africa (http://ugabytes.org/supportcentre/) and in Mali by the Federation of Telecentres Mali (http://www.fetema.org/aideenligne/), among others. In Latin America and the Caribbean there are several initiatives to support telecentres and this project seeks to collaborate with these initiatives, to initiate this collaboration, in March, a workshop was held to discuss and review the planning and goals for the project that involving several organizations in Latin America. The participating organizations were Colnodo (Colombia), Association of Telecentres assets in Chile - ATACH, Taiguey (Dominican Republic), LaNeta (Mexico), NodoTau (Argentina), Argentina Telework Association - AAT (Argentina), ITDG-Practical Solutions (Peru ), Engineering Without Borders, CONDESAN (Andean Region) and the Rural Information System of Arequipa (Peru), who offered the same part of the project through the assistance of its experts in various subjects and to promote the service among their telecentres countries.
