Workshop with 80 operators / technology centers as Southwest launches social network CACT-Dominican community

On Thursday 16 April saw the first Meeting-Workshop on Collective Centres Access to ICTs in the Region Enriquillo in the South Foundation facilities Younger, in Barahona coordinated by the Technical Unit of the C omission National Information Society (CNSIC) of the Dominican Republic and Taigüey Foundation. The meeting is part of the establishment of the National Network and the Commonwealth of Dominican Cacts , which seeks to enhance the sustainability and social impact of technology centers, through joint capacity building, exchange of experiences, tools and best practices between managers and operators of the technology centers. The same counted with the participation of 80 operators / managers as and / as the Community Technology Centers (Cacts) promoted by INDOTEL, Secretary of Education and the Ministry of Youth in the provinces of Pedernales, Bahoruco, Barahona and Independencia.

During the workshop, / as participants discussed and shared views and experience on the strengths of these centers, and the challenges they face in achieving the social, cultural, economic and technology centers.

During the workshop was put into operation a virtual platform: http://comunidad-cact-dominicanos.taiguey.org /, conceived as a space for exchange and mutual support to support the work of the Dominican Network and promote exchanges between all operators, trainers and operational teams of Cacts. This platform is managed by the Foundation Taigüey.

This workshop is part of the activities being carried out from November 2008, the Technical Unit of the National Commission for Information Society (CNSIC) of the Dominican Republic and Taiguey Foundation within the framework of ACTIVATE project , implemented with the support of Telecentre.org, for the creation of the Dominican National Technology Centers: CACTsS-DOMINICAN in the country.

In the coming months will continue the workshops to cover other regions of the country: The Valle and Valdesia, the Cibao and the eastern region, completing the formal integration of over 800 community access to ICT in the country.

The idea is to create so parallela the RED-CACT-MACHINE Dominicans will have institutional membership programs and organizations that support Cacts, and the Dominican Comundidad-CACT-grouping in a large social network all / as the / operators as / as facilitators / as informediadores / ace of the centers across the country
Joining Efforts to achieve community development through community access centers to ICTs (Cacts) sustainable in the Region Enriquillo.

The Cacts centers are defined as nonprofit, access and use of ICTs for development comuniatrio. Training Centers are Information Technology, Community Technology Centres, Telecentres Youth Information Centres, AVEs, Community Information Centres, Telecentres Community School, Library with Internet access, etc.
