Workshop ecotourism guides with support from the Spanish Cooperation (AECI)

24 and 25 May 2008 a workshop on ecotourism guides with support from the Spanish Cooperation (AECI) under the ecotourism project comuniatrio supported by the Spanish International Cooperation Agency (AECI). The aim of this workshop was ( a) to raise awareness to students of the importance of the ecotourism guide in the care of Environment and Tourism development in general (b) demonstrate the intimate relationship that saves the environment in our tourism offering and (c) create a vision sound of the importance of ecotourism guide because it has the mission to inform, direct and guide tourists from different points of view with emphasis on the care of nature.
PURPOSE
At the end of the introductory course ecotourism guide the student will be able to:
1. Understanding Ecotourism as an activity that meets the everyday aspects of tourism and how they involved in protecting natural and cultural resources.
2. Understanding the implications of Ideology Ecotourism in Tourism Activities and Company Financial all want to practice this philosophy.
3. Recognize the various protected areas of the country and have a general idea of the resources of existing tourist attraction in them.
4. Understanding the effects of human activities on the environment, such as water pollution, air and other contaminants.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES:
1. To introduce participants to the concept of sustainable development and the way in which protection and conservation are reconciled to it.
2. Recognizing that tourism and the environment are interdependent areas, and in fact, all tourism activity in which obviate the need for implementation of improvement programs, protection and conservation of the environment is doomed to failure, either in the short, medium or long term.
3. To determine the impacts of ecotourism on the natural causes that practice.
4. Analyze the various ways of delivering care services and tour guide, describing and linking the main functions and working procedures.
5. To develop the initiative, sense of responsibility, identity and professional maturity to improve the quality of work and motivate towards further training.
METHODOLOGY
The form of this course will be of theoretical and practical, using the concepts discussed in class to illustrate and better understand the activities in natural areas are these public such as national parks or private nature reserves.
