Project "Project Bringing Congress to the southwest through art and media" wins contest for Social Development Fund for the World Bank Civil Society

The SDS 2008 has provided the Foundation with Taigüey U.S. $ 12,000 for the project "Bridging the Congress through the media arts and southwest." The project aims to raise awareness and encourage reflection of the / as community, municipalities and municipal districts of the province of Barahona, on the work of congress and the leading role and pro-active citizenship in the monitoring and management control Congress through the creation and presentation of a play and development and facilitation of self-reflective materials in multimedia format and online. The project seeks to provide, implicitly, equal opportunities to access information to marginalized communities.
S expected results of the (s) activity (s) proposal (s) are
a. Creating a theater drama on the theme of the work of Congress and social monitoring to management that uses a theatrical language and cultural references adapted to the target audience.
b. Six theatrical presentations on the subject of the work of Congress and social monitoring to management, with a scenic language creative, playful, simple and straightforward.
c. Implementation of seven think tanks on the topic of the play and its relationship with the local realities of the / as spectators.
d. Development of multimedia materials for self-reflection from theatrical and think tanks, accessible through the internet (youtube short style)
e. Training of community youth as multipliers of the reflection process from the application of multimedia material for reflection.
The project includes among its consequences the systematization of the experience through the development of multimedia materials for self reflection, which will include video excerpts of the play and impressions / viewers as participants in the forums.
This material is available through the Internet and disseminated by electronic means (creation of a special section within the website Taigüey, diffusion through mailing lists, virtual magazines and promote development, The Drum, youtube etc.). Likewise, the project includes the training of young people from targeted communities as multipliers of the reflection process.
About the FSD:
The purpose of the Social Development Fund for the World Bank Civil Society (formerly known as Small Grants Program), is to support activities whose primary objective is civic participation. For the FDS 2008 the World Bank convened with the support of the House of Representatives through its Center Representative. The SDS's main objective is the incentive of the interaction of citizens, individually or in groups, to strengthen mechanisms for inclusion of vulnerable groups, the demand for accountability, and participation of a greater number of citizens in the public sector and their processes extend to and affect the development outputs.
