Project-swamp TRANSAGRO
Is the creation of a small joint venture of agro processing fruit, run by women in the community, this project seeks to provide a sustainable solution to the problems of income generation and environmental conservation through the enhancement of products that are environmentally sustainable farming - basically fruit, preferably organic, and to promote inclusion and participation of women in the economy. The Swamp community, located in the coastal area south of Barahona, and on the eastern slope of the Sierra de Bahoruco, suffers from the typical problems of rural communities in the region: unemployment, poverty (84% of its population is below the poverty line, reflected especially in the case of women), crime, rural exodus and persistent environmental degradation are the result of the low profitability of traditional agriculture and the lack of sustainable income-generating alternatives.
The project responds to needs expressed by the (a) Community s (a) s. The identification of needs and the general outlines of the project design have been developed and / or validated in meetings with the (old) EU (o) s which guarantees identification with the project. The project will be implemented in partnership with community organizations, existing, established and recognized. Small Business will be managed entirely by the beneficiaries of the project, the role of management of the project will train, advise and assist, so that / as beneficiaries become protagonists of their own development, contributing to the project empoderamineto and the formation of local social capital
