Project for community ecotourism development through micro-enterprise cooperative of women in the Cienega
This project and aim of the project is to contribute to sustainable development of the municipality of La Cienaga through the combination of conservation and environmental assessment, the inclusion and participation of women in the economy (income generation) and empowerment ( human capital and social) and Community / os through the development of ecotourism potential and the enhancement of the attractiveness of the area. The proposal seeks to develop eco-tourism offer comprehensive community (and not only completed to mass tourism) paying close attention to the quality of service and social sustainability, cultural, environmental and economic supply. This will combine the amenities (rivers, beaches, mountains Bahoruco East, biodiversity, sports) and cultural (dance and traditions, natural medicine, etc..) In the area, with the services handled by the / as community / as (host family , local guides, crafts, traditional dancing, horses and marine transport, agro-processes visit coffee and cocoa, traditional local cuisine, etc..). In this way the profits stay in the community and economic value on the environment, promoting conservation. This project is supported by the Social Development Fund of the Embassy of France

Soil Conservation Workshop
The 6 and 17 December 2007 had a Soil Conservation workshop facilitated by Mr. Elpidio Moreta. The first day of the workshop (the theoretical conserve soil) was explained to participants what are the treatments that harm the soil and how to use other ways to treat it possible to follow spreading without the application of chemicals and also to protect the harvest.
